Hopefully you’ve spent a little time playing around on www.crimereports.com. What I’d like to tell you about today is how to manage your search for a specific crime category. When you first go to CrimeReports and enter your search area, whether that be a city or address, the screen will look similar to this:
If you look in the upper right hand corner you will see the three tabs I mentioned earlier. I have already encouraged you to explore the Incident Layers tab, now I encourage you to explore within that layer, ie, pick one or two categories and select them by clicking in the box next to the category:
Now click on ‘Apply and Close”. This will take you back to the main screen and you will see how much less cluttered that looks. Now if you want to find out some specifics on each case, you can click on the icon. This will give you the time the crime occurred, case number and general area.
I’ll give you some time to familiarize yourself with these different options, then we shall continue on with other cool stuff!
