Sgt. Owen T. Farley, Killed in the Line of Duty in 1951

May 14, 2012 — The Salt Lake City Police Department will be joined by Mayor Ralph Becker and members of the City Council to dedicate a bronze marker in honor of a Fallen Officer tomorrow at 10 a.m.

As part of Police Week 2012, the Department will install a marker where Sgt. Owen T. Farley was killed in the line of duty on the northeast corner of 300 South and State Street in 1951. It is the fourth marker installed by the Salt Lake City Police History project in conjunction with community partners.

The Mayor and City Council will also issue their joint resolution in support of Police Week, which was first recognized by President John F. Kennedy in 1962.
