June 13, 2013 — The Salt Lake City Police Department will switch things up this month and head to Smith’s Food & Drug Stores in Rose Park for its monthly outreach, which has been renamed “Chill with a Cop” for the hot summer months.

From 5–7 p.m. Thursday, June 27, Smith’s will offer a free ice cream or cold soda to anyone who speaks with an officer from 5–7 p.m. Community Intelligence Officers will be on hand to discuss crime trends and help people problem-solve public safety issues they may be experiencing.

“Chill with a Cop” is held from 5–7 p.m. the fourth Thursday of the month in June (Rose Park), July (Glendale) and August (Sugar House) at Smith’s. A collaborative effort to solve public safety issues at the neighborhood level, this community outreach effort is supported by Salt Lake City, Local First Utah and the Downtown Alliance.
