970 S. 300 West
Officers responded to a cellular 911 hang up call. Upon arrival they found several persons fleeing the area and the body of a male adult shooting victim on the sidewalk on the west side of 300 West. Homicide Detectives responded and assumed the investigation. The victim was later identified as David Gonzales (2/13/85). Later in the day Nicholas Valdez (12/27/85) turned himself in at the jail visitor lobby in connection with the homicide. Donald Valdez (10/10/81) was booked for Obstruction of Justice.

A 56-year old male exited a taxi in the area of the shelter and four adult males immediately confronted him, taking his wallet and severely beating him. He was transported in critical condition. Investigation is ongoing.
