2700 S. 700 E.
A 26-year-old man was riding westbound on his bicycle. At 2700 S. 700 E. he was struck in the intersection by a southbound vehicle and transported in critical condition. Accident Investigators called out. No update on condition at this time.
445 S. 400 W.
A 39-year-old man was in a parking lot at this location with two others when an argument started and the victim was stabbed twice. The suspect fled the scene. He is described as a Vietnamese male, 45 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches tall, slim build. The victim refused medical attention and was uncooperative with police. The injuries are not life-threatening.
42 N. 800 W.
Officers responded on a report of a man who had been shot. Upon arrival they found a black van attempting to leave the area. As they stopped the van, two occupants fled. There were several others inside the van, including the shooting victim. Upon investigation officers determined that the 23-year-old man accidentally had shot himself in the leg in West Valley City. The victim was transported to the hospital in serious condition. A handgun was recovered.
100 S. 500 W.
A 20-year-old man was robbed and stabbed. Two male suspects approached the victim from behind and grabbed him. One of them had a knife. They took the victim’s cell phone and some cash, fleeing toward the shelter area. The victim found he had lacerations to his hands and a minor stab wound in the shoulder. He was transported in serious condition but later upgraded to stable. Suspect #1 is described as a male black adult, late 30s, 6 feet tall, medium build, dark shirt and pants. Suspect #2 is described as a male white adult, early 20s, 6 feet 1 inch tall, medium build, black hat, dark shirt and tan pants.
1084 S. 400 E.
A man woke up to noise coming from his basement. As he went to find out what was causing the noise, he saw a man removing property from his basement. A scuffle ensued when the victim tried to detain the suspect, just as officers arrived. Haley Smith (11/7/92) was booked on several charges including burglary. The victim sustained minor scratches in the scuffle.
