New cadets bring all Troop #2471 to nearly 40 volunteers

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department will welcome 22 new cadets to Explorer Troop #2471 at 8 a.m. Saturday morning, November 16.

The Salt Lake City Police Department opened the Explorer application process in August. After an extensive background and interview process, the Department invited eight young men and 14 young women, ages 14-20, to join the troop. The diverse group includes thirteen who speak a second language.

Reporters are invited to observe Saturday’s events, which will include a program introduction, safety awareness, radio procedures, firearms safety, drill and ceremony guidance, and physical training.

  4:50 p.m.: graduation and awards
