Fleeing Vehicle/Foot Pursuit/k-9 Apprehension
400 E. Emerson Ave.
A K9 officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle, but the driver failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed southbound on 500 East. While officers did not pursue, they quickly discovered the vehicle had crashed into a parked vehicle near 400 East and Emerson St. Officers in the area set up containment as both doors to the vehicle were left open and the vehicle was empty. K-9 Tex and JR and their handlers were in the area and immediately started a track. Two houses south of the crash, officers found Karlaya Yazzie (3/14/86) hiding under some stairs. Tex and JR followed another track and were able to find Joseph Tafola (3/11/80) north of the crash took him into custody. Officers booked Yazzie for fleeing, warrants, possession of burglary tools. They booked Tafola for fleeing and parole violation.
