Multiple cases

Based upon numerous complaints and crime trends in the downtown area, Narcotics Officers continued an enforcement operation Thursday. Their efforts resulted in the following three felony and two misdemeanor arrests:

  • Stephen Acosta (2/1/93), distribution of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Nathan Cheever (9/22/87), outstanding arrest warrants
  • Ramon Banuelos (6/18/93), distribution of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Jose Acosta-Medina (7/8/79), possession of stolen property, interfering
  • Dain Wells (11/02/90), distribution of a controlled substance 

6:01 p.m.
Traffic accident involving SLCPD Motor Officers
210 E. 500 S.

Motor officers were westbound on 500 South when the operator of a small car made a sudden lane change into the officers’ lane. Two of the three officers were not able to avoid colliding with the vehicle. Both were transported in stable condition to a local hospital. The injured officers remain in the hospital today. Investigation ongoing.
