9:00 a.m.
Possession of a controlled substance
575 E. 400 S.

Officers responded to the Burger King at this location for a man down in the restroom. Elesio Gallegos (12/13/77) appeared intoxicated and was placed under arrest. During a search incident to arrest, officers found Gallegos to be in possession of methamphetamine and heroin. They booked him into jail for public intoxication and possession with intent to distribute.

12:28 p.m.
Industrial Accident
1150 S. Gladiola

The victims were working in an eight-foot-deep trench at this location when the side of the trench collapsed, trapping both men in mud up to their waists. The victims were trapped for an unknown amount of time, possibly 20 minutes, before another employee found them. Both victims were transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

5:54 p.m.
Bank Robbery
2200 S. Highland Dr.

Two suspects wearing masks entered the Zions Bank, brandished firearms and told the teller to give them the “big bills.” After getting the money, the suspects left through the rear door and fled in a small white sedan. Both suspects were described as black males, one wearing grey sweatpants and a grey sweatshirt, both wearing black masks and displaying firearms. Approximately 20-30 minutes after the robbery, an officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of the robbers’ getaway car. He stopped the vehicle at 2700 S. 700 E. and took the driver, who also matched the description, into custody. Officers impounded the vehicle and took the driver to the Public Safety Building for detectives to interview.  The second suspect remains at-large. Officers booked Davee Person (3/24/86) for aggravated robbery.

6:23 p.m.
Trespassing/Assault on PO/Resisting/CED Deployment
1530 S. Main St.

Officers responded on a trespasser/unwanted person attempting to fight everyone and being belligerent at the Colonial Motel. When officers arrived, the subject refused to leave or cooperate and became aggressive toward officers. Officers attempted to take the subject into custody for the trespass, but he resisted. Officers used a Taser during the altercation. A police vehicle was damaged while the officers struggled with the subject. Officers booked Evan Wright (9/22/70) for resisting, failure to provide ID, having someone else’s ID, public intoxication, criminal mischief and outstanding warrants.

1:30 a.m.
Shots Fired
280 W. 400 S. (Club One)

Officers were on scene handling several fights when they heard four to five shots coming from the north side of the building. When they got to the north side they found four 9mm shell casings and two cars with bullet holes. A vehicle possibly involved in the incident was described as a red two-door Mercedes with very dark-tinted windows. The suspect vehicle has yet to be located.
