Compiled by Watch Commanders in the field, the Watch Log is a summary of events that stand out to them in a given 24-hour period. 502 East 2100 South
A male suspect entered the Shell gas station, brandished a weapon and demanded money from the employee. The suspect possibly fled southbound on 500 E. Suspect was described as male white adult 5’9”, late teens to early 20s, with a thin build and pock marks on his face. He wore a long black wig and possibly has short blond hair, wearing all black clothing.
1400 Utahna drive
The victim walked to a nearby ATM (Mountain America Credit Union) from his friend’s home near Utahna drive. The victim withdrew some cash from the ATM and was making the return back to his friend’s house when he was approached by two male suspects. The suspects pulled a weapon on the victim and took the victim’s cash and cell phone and fled on foot. It appears the suspects were watching the ATM at Mountain America Credit Union and followed the victim back to the location of the robbery. The victim described the suspects as two male Hispanic’s, in their 20’s slender build and both were clean shaven.
500 East, 906 South (Bean and Brews)
Officers were on routine patrol when they observed the suspect standing in front of the entrance to the Beans and Brews coffee shop at 906 S. 500 E. The suspect had wedged several pieces of newspaper around the edges of the main entry doors of the coffee shop and lit the papers on fire. Officers were able to extinguish the fire quickly. Rina Bowen (02/13/67) was taken into custody after a short struggle. SLCFD responded to the scene and used a small fire extinguisher around the door frame to make sure the fire would not start again. The Assistant Manager of the Coffee Shop was notified of the incident. Bowen was booked into jail for Arson and Resisting Arrest.
