SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department receives hundreds of calls for service each day. Not all calls result in a report or arrest. Compiled by Watch Commanders in the field, the Watch Log is a summary of events that stand out to them in a given 24-hour period. Call times listed are approximate and typically reflect the first call received by SLC911 (Dispatch) for a given case. Items contained herein are based on information available at the time of its release and should not be interpreted as an admission or finding of guilt. Arrest information may differ from formal charges filed by the prosecuting agency. To see a list of completed calls for service in the last 48 hours, please visit slcpd.com/policecallsforservice.

A 7-year-old called 911 and stated that his dad was hitting his mom and then the phone hung up. As officers arrived a man confronted them a knife and screw driver, screaming, cursing them. After a brief standoff the suspect threw the knife at the officers, missing them. The suspect eventually dropped the screw driver, but as the officers tried to take him into custody he was combative. Jared Pederson, 31, was finally taken into custody and booked on several charges including domestic assault in the presence of a child. He incurred minor injury during the arrest, was checked and released by medics.
