Aggravated Assault w/ a Gun
1176 N Victoria Way
The suspect, Jonathan Fonseca (18yrs old) decided that he would borrow some of his brother’s Victor Fonseca (21yrs old)] illicit drug stash. Victor became enraged when Jonathan decided to tell him what he had done. As a result, Jonathan solicited his girlfriend for a ride back to the family home; so as to return what remained of Victor’s weed. A fight ensued, with Victor first brandishing a knife and then a 9mm handgun. Victor ended up firing a shot into the grass near Jonathan’s foot then 5 to 6 additional rounds (out into the neighborhood) at Jonathan as he ran away. Jonathan was able to make it back to his girlfriend’s vehicle unscathed and fled the scene. Victor gave chase in their mom’s van and attempted to run Jonathan and his girlfriend off the road; all the while continuing to threaten them with the 9mm. Jonathan eventually crashed into a fence @ 1059 N 1400 W at which time Victor apparently considered the issue resolved and continued on his way. When Police arrived Jonathan fabricated a story about rival gang members and a drive-by shooting. Witness accounts of the melee quickly dispelled and Jonathan settled on honesty as being-the-best-policy. Officers responded back to the residence on Victoria Way and found several 9mm casings on the lawn; the family van was back but Victor was nowhere to be found. Jonathan was booked into jail for false information to a police officer along with Reckless driving and Suspended D/L.
At 9:24 p.m. officers were able to locate suspect, Victor Fonseca (21yrs old) and took him into custody as he was walking up to the family home. Victor had the loaded gun used in the earlier assault still on his person in addition to Marijuana and Heroin. Victor was booked into jail for, Aggravated Assault (two counts), Possession of a Weapon by a Restricted Person and Possession of a Controlled Substance (two counts).
