A man was sitting in his car in the area south of the shelter when a male male occupant of a vehicle next to him exited and retrieved a rifle from the trunk of the vehicle. The male then fired a round into the rear passenger’s side quarter panel of the victim’s vehicle. The male then got back into the vehicle and fled the scene. A few hours later the suspect vehicle was seen in the downtown area and was stopped by officers. Bullets were found in the vehicle. Further investigation led to the rifle being recovered in Pleasant Grove. The suspect was identified as Matthew Staton 24, he was booked into jail for aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a restricted person.
