Compiled by Watch Commanders in the field, the Watch Log is a summary of events that stand out to them in a given 24-hour period. Aggravated assault with machete

Gang detectives were serving an arrest warrant on a fugitive. His mother answered the door as detectives watched the man flee into a bathroom, armed with a machete. As officers approached he began swinging it at them, yelling that the officers would have to kill him. An officer deployed his taser and Rick Speer, 40, was taken into custody and booked for aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of meth, and a felony warrant. No officers were injured.

Officer’s located a wanted gang member Luis Rodriguez, 38, living out of a trailer. He was safely taken into custody. Officers located a loaded handgun inside. He was booked on warrants including aggravated robbery, possession of a firearm and drug charges.
Aggravated assault on Police officer
120 S. 300 E.
Officers were dispatched to a person banging on doors of the Pauline Apartments. They located a male adult outside nearby who matched the description. As officers tried to talk to him he became combative and began fighting with officers. He grabbed a cast iron decoration and bashed the officer in the head with it. The officer sustained injury to his forehead and ear. In an attempt to gain compliance the suspect was struck with a baton and tazed. Several officers were finally able to take him into custody. He was initially taken to the hospital and then booked into jail. Leon Hall 23, was booked on assault on a police officer, interfering with an officer, and criminal mischief. The officer was treated at a local hospital and released.
