5:50 p.m. Robbery
2025 S. 900 W.
A man fled the store on foot after shoplifting several items with a security guard in pursuit. Witnesses observed the suspect strike the security guard in the head with a pipe. The guard, a 39-year-old male, sustained a fractured skull and was transported to a local hospital. Utah Highway Patrol troopers located the suspect walking on the 201 freeway and were able to take him into custody after a short foot chase. Officers booked Jason Vaillancourt, 41, into jail for aggravated robbery and fleeing.
9:40 p.m. Robbery 621 E. 400 S.
A woman entered the restaurant and passed a note demanding money. The suspect then brandished a weapon. The victim complied and the suspect fled in an unknown direction. The suspect is described as a white female adult, between 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 185 lbs., short brown hair and gaps between her teeth, wearing a gray hoodie, blue jeans and a blue baseball cap.
