Federal parole fugitive arrest
800 W. Dalton Ave.
Officers received information that Jose Johnson, 35, was wanted for a federal parole violation and was inside a residence nearby. Johnson was also listed as armed and dangerous. Officers responded and contained the house. The suspect attempted to flee on foot out the back of the house but was apprehended by pursuing officers. Officers booked Johnson for the federal warrant.
520 S. 500 E.
A man was at another man’s apartment when the two got into an argument. The man that lived in the apartment attempted to hit the other man with a baseball bat. The other man wrestled the bat away and struck the victim multiple times until he was unconscious. The suspect then called the police. The victim was declared deceased at the scene. Officers booked Andrew Berry, 22, into jail for murder. The victim has been identified as Timothy Houlihan, 39.
60 E. 1300 S.
Victims of a prior car theft located their vehicle with occupants inside it parked at the listed address. Before officers arrived the driver exited the stolen vehicle, entered another vehicle and drove away. The victims followed the suspect to 1300 South State Street. Officers responded and found the second vehicle to also be a stolen car. Officers booked Deyshawn Chapman, 25, into jail for two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle.
