Assault on police officer

Officers were called to the shelter because a man was refusing to leave the property. While Officers were escorting the man off the property, he threw a water bottle at one of the officers nearly hitting the officer in the head. Officers took the man into custody. While in the back seat of the patrol car, the man yelled that he wished he had a gun so he could shoot the officer in the back. The officers were not injured. Officers booked James Cotton, 66, into jail for assault on a police officer and threats of violence.

An officer was flagged down by a citizen reporting that a woman had her property. The officer confronted the woman, who then became upset. The officer placed the woman in handcuffs and the women then refused to comply with commands and was assisted to the ground. While being assisted to the ground, the suspect kicked the officer in the knee. Officers booked Jessica Gerber, 34, into jail for assault on a police officer, theft of mislaid property, and interference.

Officers working foot patrol in the area of the shelter encountered a black female adult, who walked toward the officers and took a swing at one of them. Officers took the suspect into custody after a brief struggle. The suspect was placed in the back of a police car where she then tried to kick out the windows. Officers transported and booked the female into jail. The suspect would not give her name to Officers.

Fatal traffic accident
200 S. 300 W.

A man was driving his motorcycle northbound on 300 west. As the motorcycle entered the intersection at 200 south, a passenger car traveling southbound on 300 west made a left turn to travel east on 200 south. It’s unknown if the motorcycle and the vehicle made contact. The vehicle did not stop per witnesses. This vehicle was later located and the driver was interviewed by detectives. Wade Hugoe, 53, was pronounced dead. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Stabbing

Officers responded to a fight at the shelter. Upon arrival they located a 54-year-old male victim with a stab wound to his chest. Several witnesses identified the suspect. Officers located and booked Carl Lawrence Cornish, 55, into jail for aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person. The victim was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
