345 W. North Temple St.
Security saw a man inside a business and chased him into the Gateway Mall. Officers then located the suspect and he again fled on foot. Officers took Phillip Jimenez, 34, into custody and booked him into jail for burglary, possession of stolen property and fleeing on foot.
Aggravated robbery/Vehicle theft
210 E. 400 S.
A cab driver gave three males a ride from outside the city to 210 E. 400 S. When they arrived, one of the males assaulted the cab driver and stole his cab and money. The victim received minor injuries from the assault. The cab was equipped with GPS. It was tracked and recovered by officers. The suspect was located in the area of 888 S. 400 W. The Suspect admitted post Miranda to robbery and vehicle theft. Officers booked Atiba Jacobs,21 yrs old, into jail for aggravated robbery, theft of a motor vehicle and assault.
Officer involved shooting
150 W. 1300 S.
Officers were dispatched on trespassers in the alleyway at this address. When they approached a male told an officer that he wasn’t going back to prison and fled on foot. At the termination of the foot pursuit an Officer fired a shot. The suspect was not hit and was taken into custody by officers. There were no injuries to any bystanders or officers. The suspect, Jason Garcia, 42 was a parole fugitive and had a no bail felony warrant for his arrest for escape from official custody. Garcia was transported back to prison. Investigation is ongoing.
1990 W North Temple St.
A man invited two men that he did not know to his motel room for beers. After consuming alcohol, the males decided they wanted the victim’s money. The victim resisted and was struck in the head with a beer bottle. The suspects took money from the victim and fled on foot. The first Suspect is described as Hispanic male adult with a white shirt and blue jeans. The second suspect is described as Hispanic male adult with curly hair and a red shirt. The victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The suspects were not located and the investigation is ongoing.
