Fatal auto-pedestrian accident
2400 S. 1300 E.

A man and his brother were crossing 1300 East on foot. Both individuals were outside of a crosswalk wearing dark clothing in low-light conditions. A driver traveling northbound on 1300 East had a green light and was unable to stop in time and struck Lester Dewey, age 41. The subject was transported to local hospital and was pronounced dead.

A man and woman entered a business and concealed merchandise. A clerk confronted the two and was punched in the face. The two suspects then fled the store and got onto a nearby Trax train. Officers observed the suspects exit the train nearby and took them into custody. Police booked Michael Trainer, 28, into jail for robbery and Jayme Mares, 34, for retail theft, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Child endangerment

Officers made contact with a suspicious vehicle and observed drug paraphernalia in plain view and within reach of their 12 year old child. Officers booked Joshua Keyes, 35, and Kimberly Koich-Keyes, 37, into jail for child endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia. DCFS was notified and the juvenile was taken to the Christmas Box House.
