Officers arrived on a traffic accident and located a man nearby and took him into custody. The suspect admitted to driving his car while texting. It was determined that the man hit a parked car and then forced entry into a nearby apartment to hide. The resident of the apartment fought with the suspect. A strong odor of marijuana was found in the car along with a stolen firearm. A bottle of prescription cough syrup was found on the suspect. Officers booked Christian Diaz, 19, into jail for possession of a stolen firearm, DUI, hit and run, burglary and possession of a controlled substance.
