Key Bank Robbery Update

Unified Police Department assisted SLCPD at an address in Taylorsville, searching for the Key Bank robbery suspect, David L. Perkins (39). Perkins was taken into custody and booked into jail for robbery

911 Hangup – Shots Fired

Officers respond to a 911 hang up call at the Rodeway Inn. As officers approached the room they heard gunshots from within the room. Officers were able to establish communication inside the room but the occupants refused to come out. The Special Weapons and Tactics team responded to assist on the critical incident. Tactical elements approached the hotel and multiple shots were fired through the window of the room towards the officers. SWAT was able to gain access into the room where both suspects were taken into custody unharmed. The suspects, John Mendenhall (47) and Shelby McDougal (21) were transported to jail and booked for aggravated assault against a police officer, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and obstruction of justice.
