Compiled by Watch Commanders in the field, the Watch Log is a summary of events that stand out to them in a given 24-hour period. Assault on a police officer
440 S. 900 W.
Officers responded on a trespasser. The suspect threatened officers with pepper spray and then advanced on them with brass knuckles. Officers deployed their taser and took the suspect into custody. Officers booked Mark Scurlock, 54, into jail for aggravated assault on a peace officer.
528 N. Chicago St.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired. Two vehicles were parked at this location on the street when witnesses stated they heard a confrontation. Five shots were fired from one vehicle towards another vehicle. One vehicle fled south and the other fled north. Suspect vehicles are described as a red/maroon SUV and a silver minivan with no plates. Five 9mm shell casings were located on the street.
700 E. 2700 S.
A man left work at the Maverik after withdrawing cash from the ATM. As he was walking home he was approached by two men. One of the suspects pulled a handgun and demanded the victim’s money. The victim complied and the suspects left on foot. The first suspect is described as white male adult, 5 feet 11 inches tall with a muscular build, tattoos on his arms and legs, wearing a white tank top and black shorts. The second suspect is described as a black male adult, 6 feet 7 inches tall, 220 lbs., wearing yellow clothes. Investigation ongoing.
206 W. North Temple St.
A man entered the Maverik, selected a candy bar, and walked to the counter. After the clerk rang up the purchase, the suspect produced a revolver and instructed the clerk to give him the money from the register. The clerk gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled the store. The suspect is described as a black male adult wearing black sweats, black hooded sweatshirt, green t-shirt underneath and green Converse high tops.
490 N. Redwood Rd.
The same suspect that robbed the above Maverik robbed this Maverik. When the store emptied the suspect entered the store and picked up some candy. The suspect tossed the candy on the counter. When the clerk opened the till the suspect showed a handgun and demanded money. The suspect fled on foot. Same description as noted above.
