Compiled by Watch Commanders in the field, the Watch Log is a summary of events that stand out to them in a given 24-hour period. 110 W. 600 S.
Dispatch received a call of a suspicious person at the Doubletree Hotel. Guests of the hotel were followed by this male and thought he was acting strange. The male then motioned to the guests that he may need their help. One guest saw the suspect go into a room so he went to see if the man was okay. At this time, the good Samaritan found himself being attacked by the suspect which was unprovoked. The guests called police. The suspect was not a guest of the hotel and had trespassed into a vacant room. Officers arrived and took the suspect in custody. Officers booked Damien Santio, 20, into jail for assault and trespassing. It was also determined that the subject has a U.S. Marshall’s warrant.
Fatal traffic accident
1100 E. 2100 S.
A man was driving his scooter east along 2100 south when he collided with a vehicle near the intersection of 1100 east. The driver of the scooter was pronounced dead. He has been identified as Richard Waskiewicz, age 41. Investigation ongoing.
141 W. 200 S.
A woman was running north across 200 south when she was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was upgraded to stable condition. The driver of the vehicle was not cited and the investigation is ongoing.
Suspicious circumstance/Unattended deaths
1600 E. Wasatch Cir.
A woman found her mother and father deceased in their residence. Medical responded and were unable to resuscitate either subject. Homicide responded and this case is being investigated as a possible murder suicide. The two parties have been identified as Nancy May, age 55 and Mark May, age 64. Investigation ongoing.
