3:11 p.m.
Fatal traffic accident
1100 E. 500 S.

A couple was westbound in a Toyota traveling at a high rate of speed. At approximately 1300 East 500 South the Toyota struck a Subaru. The Subaru was pushed by the Toyota for a distance, until both vehicles crashed into a dual steel support pole that holds up the wires for the Trax train in the middle of the road on the east side of 1100 East 500 South. The male driver of the Subaru, Fernando Jiminez-Martinez, 34, was killed on scene. Both occupants of the Toyota were transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Toyota, Jeoffry Dahl, 74, later succumbed to his injuries.

Recovered stolen vehicle
200 S. 600 W.

An officer located an occupied stolen vehicle near 200 South 600 West. The officer began following while waiting for assisting units. During this time the vehicle pulled curb side at 900 West 300 South and a high hazard stop was initiated. The driver, Sean Moore, 41, was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle and drug paraphernalia
