Compiled by Watch Commanders in the field, the Watch Log is a summary of events that stand out to them in a given 24-hour period. Officer involved critical incident
300 S. 500 E.
Officers responded to a trespass complaint nearby and followed the suspect to 300 South. During the confrontation the suspect fought with officers resulting in an officer-involved shooting. The suspect, Michael Bruce Peterson, 39, was declared deceased at the scene. The two officers were taken to the hospital with injuries.
414 W. 500 S.
An officer observed a man acting suspiciously at the listed address. When the officer contacted the suspect he refused to comply. After a short struggle the officer was able to handcuff the suspect. Police booked David Scott, 32, into jail for interfering and disorderly conduct.
1911 S. 400 E.
Officers responded to a trespasser in an abandoned house. The suspect fled from officers on foot. Officers gave chase through several yards, eventually catching up to the suspect. The suspect actively resisted and a Taser was used, allowing officers to handcuff him. Officers booked Modesto Pena, 34, into jail for trespass, fleeing and warrants.
500 N. Grant St.
Suspects in a white car pulled up to a group at the park. After some dialogue the suspects fired several rounds at the people and fled.
2100 S. Bangerter Hwy.
Gang detectives spotted the suspect vehicle in the above Grant Street shooting. A stop was attempted but the suspects fled. The suspect vehicle was westbound on 2100 South and ended up crashing into the embankment at Bangerter Highway. The driver fled on foot onto the highway but was apprehended. The passenger remained in the vehicle. It is believed the suspects were involved in Thursday’s 7-11 robberies. Officers booked one 17-year-old into detention and Tu Bui, 18, into jail for 2 counts of aggravated robbery, fleeing and possession of a stolen vehicle.
796 N. Colorado St.
Police received calls of shots fired and a car speeding away. Officers located casings in the street and a car in the area with a bullet hole. Investigation ongoing.
