The victim and her family came into Salt Lake City to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner together at a nearby restaurant. As they approached the restaurant, Yambu Arias (38) ran up to the victim and attempted to cut her purse strap in an attempt to steal her purse using a box cutter. The victim sustained minor injuries to her arm / shoulder. The victims family members seized Arias, disarmed him, and held him until police arrived. Arias was booked into SLC Jail for attempted aggravated robbery. The victim declined medical.
