Security officers from the Salt Palace Convention Center were notified of a box left on the sidewalk outside adjacent to a power box. The area was secured and the hazardous device unit responded. The package was determined to be a record player and was removed from the scene without incident.
1655 W. 700 N.
A male suspect knocked on the drive through window of McDonald’s. When the window opened the suspect displayed a weapon at the clerk and demanded money. The clerk stepped back so the suspect reached in and attempted to open the register. The manager walked around the corner next to the clerk, scaring the suspect who fled southbound without money. The suspect was wearing a red hoodie, a black bandana over his face and gloves.
