7:11 p.m. Theft – OICI 612 E. 400 S.
Officers responded to a retail theft at the Ace Hardware at this address. Prior to officers arriving updates came in to dispatch indicating employees were struggling with the suspect while trying to detain him. When officers arrived, they placed the suspect in handcuffs and immediately realized he was unresponsive. Officers called for medical and began CPR. The suspect was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Due to the suspect being placed in handcuffs the OICI protocol was invoked and the Unified Police Department will be handling the investigation.
