Compiled by Watch Commanders in the field, the Watch Log is a summary of events that stand out to them in a given 24-hour period. Protest

A group protesting the Inland Port deviated from their original protest spot and descended upon the Chamber of Commerce offices. As the protesters stormed the offices we received several calls from frightened employees. Officers responded to quell the situation. Several protesters were located in the offices on the sixth floor and in the lobby of the building. Commands were given to vacate the premise. When those were not adhered to police began physically removing and arresting individuals. There were eight arrests, three by citation and five by way of jail. Charges range from misdemeanor riot, assault, trespassing, and criminal mischief. More charges may result from investigation into this incident.

Occupied stolen vehicle-fleeing
2005 S. 900 W.

Detectives were in the area of 2100 S. 900 W. and observed an occupied stolen vehicle.  The vehicle turned in to the Flying J truck stop and parked in a stall. Detectives coordinated with arriving units, and approached the vehicle. As soon as detectives approached, the driver, exited the vehicle and fled on foot.  He was captured a short distance away. The driver was wearing a backpack when he fled, inside the backpack was a loaded handgun, marijuana and paraphernalia. A search of the vehicle revealed another loaded handgun possibly tied to the passenger. Both driver and passenger were juveniles and will be processed through the juvenile court system.
