Compiled by Watch Commanders in the field, the Watch Log is a summary of events that stand out to them in a given 24-hour period. Call times listed are approximate and typically reflect the first call received by SLC911 (Dispatch) for a given case. Threats with a gun
1812 S. Empire Rd
The victim arrived at his storage shed and noticed a white truck, with a white male adult in his 60’s sitting in the truck. A second male white adult was loading the truck with property from the victim’s shed. The suspects noticed the victim and fled the scene in the truck. The victim followed the suspects who brandished a handgun. The victim produced his own handgun at that time and the suspects pulled over. The suspects threw the stolen property out of the truck and fled the scene. The victim remained on scene, the suspects are still outstanding.
Assault on Police Officer
210 E. 400 S.
Officers responded to the library on a report of a wanted person. The wanted subject had fled from her caretakers and been located at the library. While speaking with officers the wanted individual told them she was not going with the care takers and began to assault the officers. One officer received scratches on his hand. Ashley Monson, 23, was transported to jail for false information and assault on police officers.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle
1054 N. Victoria Way
Officers were dispatched to a red Jeep Cherokee taking license plates off vehicles and putting them on theirs. One vehicle in the area, a Kia Sorento, came back listed stolen and officers recovered it. One of the officers saw a maroon Jeep Cherokee and followed it. The vehicle fled from the officer when he attempted to pull it over, but subsequently stopped at which time both the driver and passenger fled on foot. The officer was able to take the female driver into custody. The area was searched but the passenger was not found. The passenger is described as a male Hispanic with black curly hair pulled up into a pony tail, wearing blue jeans, white t-shirt with a pattern on it, white baseball cap and white shoes. Angel Ortega, 19, was booked into jail for possession of a stolen vehicle, failure to stop at command of a law enforcement officer.
1260 N. 1200 W.
Officers assisted the Fire Department on a SUV fully engulfed in flames. Video was located and it was determined the burned vehicle appeared to be a white Chevy Suburban that was followed by a dark grey or black Subaru Outback. Investigation ongoing.
120 S. 300 E.
Three gunshots were heard in the area by multiple complainants. Shell casings were located around the ground level window of an apartment. A witness from an adjacent apartment building reported hearing the gunshots then seeing a black male and black female exit from the window while yelling to run. No indications of injury. Investigation ongoing.
