Personal Robbery-Taser Deployment
900 S. 900 E.
The suspect reached into the victim’s back pocket and pulled out his wallet. When victim confronted him, the suspect held up a brick as if to throw it and yelled, “I will kill you!” The suspect then ran away and in the process threw the brick at a passing car and picked it up again. Witnesses in the area observed the suspect get onto a UTA bus and contacted the police. Officers were able to locate the bus and get it stopped. The suspect held up the brick and threatened to hit the officers. The suspect threw the brick at one of the officers but missed him. Tasers were deployed but the suspect was able to flee the scene. After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody. Tobin Cowely, 32, was booked into jail for aggravated robbery, failure to stop at the command of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

The victim was in the parking lot of the Wasatch Inn. The suspect walked past the victim, knocked him down and took his property. The suspect then ran from the location. While officers were at the location taking the initial report, the suspect walked past them and towards a motel room at the back. Officers made contact with Brittany Stephen, 28, and booked her into jail for robbery.
