Compiled by Watch Commanders in the field, the Watch Log is a summary of events that stand out to them in a given 24-hour period. Occupied Stolen Vehicle
900 S. Post St.
Officers located a stolen vehicle which was occupied by 3 individuals. When officers approached the driver fled on foot. Officers located the driver nearby and took him into custody. It was determined all 3 occupants of the vehicle were juveniles. The driver was booked into juvenile detention for felony theft.
Officer-Involved Critical Incident (OICI)
170 N. 1460 W.
Officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle. During the stop an officer fired his weapon and the driver, a 20-year-old male, was struck. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The OICI protocol was initiated and the Unified Police Department led protocol team will handle the investigation.
309 E. 400 S.
Officers initially responded to reports of a male threatening people with a stun gun at Smith’s. Officers checked the area but could not locate the victims or the suspect. A short time later officers responded to the 7-11 at the above address on a robbery. The suspect had taken some merchandise and attempted to leave without paying. The clerk confronted the suspect at which time the suspect threatened the clerk and intimated he had a weapon before fleeing in a dark colored jeep. Some time later officers responded to Liberty Park on a dark jeep that was trying to hit people and property in the park. Officers located the vehicle and realized it was the same vehicle from the robbery. A pursuit was initiated which continued south. At approximately 7800 S. Highland Dr. the suspects vehicle was disabled and Gary Moore, 38, was taken into custody. The vehicle he was driving was found to be stolen. Gary Moore was booked into jail for aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, felony theft and failure to stop at command of a law enforcement officer.
