The suspect Christian McMahon, 22, was involved in a domestic incident as police arrived on scene he fled in his truck. Officers did not pursue him due to bad weather conditions. The suspect lost control of his truck and crashed into a building at 1390 W. 200 S. causing minor damage to the building but totaling his truck. He was taken to into custody by officers and booked into jail on domestic violence related charges as well as fleeing, resisting and negligent collision charges.
717 E. Logan Ave
Officers responded to assist the fire department with traffic control on a structure fire at this address. Fire found a body inside the structure and our Homicide unit was called out. The body was identified as John Peel, 74. His grandson Maxwell Wolcott, 28, was arrested for murder, aggravated arson, aggravated burglary, desecration of a body, and obstruction of justice.
Occupied Stolen Vehicle
1361 W Hayes Ave
Christopher Reedy, 38, was observed at a North Salt Lake construction site, stealing a mini-dump truck. Employees followed the GPS locator to an alley in Salt Lake where they observed the Reedy and several acquaintances with the truck. Police were called and all were safely taken into custody and the truck was recovered. Reedy was taken to jail for the auto theft and other charges from North Salt Lake Police.
1172 W. 700 S.
An officer saw a suspicious vehicle in the area of 1100 W. 700 S. Before the officer attempted to stop it, the vehicle came to a stop and the occupants fled on foot. The passenger was quickly apprehended but the driver fled into the block. Containment was set up on the block and the driver was found and taken into custody. Jamie Ramos, 22, was arrested for fleeing, possession of marijuana and traffic offenses.
Agency Assist, Animal Cruelty
618 N. 1400 W.
Animal Control requested our assistance in taking Daniel Figueroa, 36, into custody. This stemmed from an incident on 12-29-19 that resulted in the death of a small dog. An investigation by Animal Control determined that the dog died as a result of trauma caused by Figueroa. Officers located and arrested Figueroa, and transported him to jail.
