800 North Cornell St.
Officers responded to Riverside Park on reports of shots fired and located several spent shell casings in the street. Two vehicles, one silver in color and one gold in color, were observed leaving the area as this incident occurred. No victim or further suspect information currently.
Follow-up to Shots Fired
1700 N. Redwood Rd.
A silver Nissan Versa was involved in a shooting earlier (20-44063) in the day and then fleeing several hours later. Detectives noticed the Nissan and attempted to stop the vehicle as it drove onto 1700 North, but it fled. The vehicle was not pursued and was last seen from a distance turning west into the neighborhood. Sometime later Detectives found the vehicle crashed just west of Redwood Rd on Independence Blvd. Witnesses saw four occupants flee on foot south on Baroness St. Containment was set up and K9 responded. Three suspects walked off Joust Ct onto Redwood Rd and containment noticed them. All three were taken into custody including Julia Alires-Perez, 20, and two juveniles. Julia was interviewed and booked into jail for fleeing. One of the juveniles was booked into DT for fleeing. The shooting investigation is ongoing by the Gang Unit.
851 W. 500 N.
Calls came in of shots fired and cars speeding off at the above address. Officers responded and checked the area with no success. Officers recovered some empty shell casings. There were no apparent victims or damaged property. Witnesses stated 3 vehicles were seen leaving the area. One is a white Dodge Challenger, a white sedan and green sedan.
