Compiled by Watch Commanders in the field, the Watch Log is a summary of events that stand out to them in a given 24-hour period. 2240 S. 700 E.
A sergeant was in the area and noticed a male coming from behind a closed business complex with what appeared to be a laptop in his hands. The male saw the police car and fled. The sergeant was able to catch the suspect as he got to the TRAX line. The subject immediately resisted, was taken to the ground and handcuffed. No injures on suspect but the sergeant sustained minor injuries. Joshua Gardner, 33, was booked for fleeing and resisting arrest.
Fatal Traffic Accident
2945 W. 500 S.
A male left the location to get gas in a vehicle. When he didn’t return, his fellow employees went looking for him. They found a vehicle crashed through a fence across the street and found the missing employee slumped over the steering wheel. Fire personnel responded and pronounced the male deceased.
West Valley Police were involved in the pursuit of a suspect who had fired multiple rounds from a handgun at one of their officers. The suspect fled into the Glendale area and SLCPD officers picked up the pursuit. The suspect collided with and SLCPD police car during this time. SLCPD officers lost sight of the suspect vehicle in the area of State Street and I-80. One of the officers was able to get close enough to the vehicle to identify the suspect. The suspect was later located and taken into custody by another agency.
109 S. 300 E.
A local hospital called and notified police of a male in the ER with a gunshot wound. Officers responded to investigate. The victim was vague and evasive with officers. He stated that he was in an argument and altercation with an unknown male at the above location. He said that the male pulled a gun and fired once striking him in the hand. Officers were unable to locate any witnesses or evidence of the shooting at the location. The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, dark grey clothing with brown hair and a beard.
