Compiled by Watch Commanders in the field, the Watch Log is a summary of events that stand out to them in a given 24-hour period. Reckless Burning/Agency Assist
2401 S. Foothill Dr.
SLC911 received multiple calls of fires near I-80 and witnesses identified a possible suspect. A UHP Trooper located the suspect and took him into custody. SLC Fire Investigators requested SLCPD book Christopher Newman, 47, into jail on reckless burning charges.
996 S. Redwood Rd.
Officers located a suspect in a shooting near this address. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver fled. Officers pursued the vehicle which ultimately crashed into another vehicle at the I-15 onramp at 1300 South. The suspect fled on foot across the freeway and was not located. No injuries were reported from the crash.
2470 S. 900 E.
The victim and the suspect were drinking together before getting into an argument. During that argument the suspect produced a knife and attempted to stab the victim. The victim sustained a superficial laceration to the head and was treated at a local hospital. Officers obtained information on the suspects location and were able to take Earlene Parker, 30, into custody. Parker was booked into jail for aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a restricted person.
820 W. North Temple St.
The victim and the suspect were going to a convenience store when the suspect produced a weapon and demanded the victim’s property. The victim complied and left the area when threatened by the suspect. The suspect is described as a male Black adult, approximately 35 years old, last seen wearing a button up plaid shirt and blue pants.
Garnette St. & Carousel St.
Officers observed a vehicle that was driving erratically and began to follow it. The vehicle suddenly pulled into a driveway and the occupant immediately fled on foot. Officers chased the male through several backyards and eventually caught up to him. The male resisted and a Taser was deployed but was ineffective. The male was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and charges will be screened.
