Compiled by Watch Commanders in the field, the Watch Log is a summary of events that stand out to them in a given 24-hour period. 2104 S. 700 E.
The manager at Little Caesars reported that a man came in, displayed a knife and demanded money from the tills. The manager refused and went into the back. The suspect then left the store.
1530 S. Main St.
A witness observed Darren Venable, 62, park a stolen vehicle in a parking stall at the Main street Motel. Venable placed an accelerant inside the vehicle and then lit the inside of the unoccupied vehicle on fire. Venable shut the car door which snuffed out the flames in the vehicle, he then fled the scene. Venable was later stopped by officers, he was taken into custody and booked into jail for arson and possession of a stolen vehicle.
775 S. Post St.
An officer was notified of a disoriented male that was covered in blood. The officer made contact and the victim stated that they were at their house when someone knocked on the door. The victim said that when he answered the door two males forced their way inside and beat him up. He remembered that they were taking things from his house, but he lost consciousness. The victim was taken to a local hospital.
3455 W Ninigret Dr.
A large group of street racers were located in a parking lot in the area. There was an exchange of gunfire. Shell casings from different caliber of guns were located in two different areas of the parking lot. Officers responded but most of the vehicles had fled by the time they had responded. Two individuals self-transported to different hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
800 S. 800 W.
Several reports came into dispatch about shots being fired. Officers responded to the scene and located several shell casings. There was no report of property damage or injuries.
1435 S. 1100 E.
Officers were actively looking for Joshua Cronin, in connection with a robbery. They were able to make contact with him at a residence. After some time, they were able to get Cronin to come to the door where they were able to safely grab onto him and take him into custody. He was booked on his robbery warrant.
