Officers responded on a report of a male attacking people with a hammer. Once on scene they located victims with minor injuries and found the suspect near the hammer. As officers attempted to take Santana Yazzie, 33, into custody he began to resist and attempted to harm himself, so he was placed in a WRAP restraint. Yazzie was booked into jail for aggravated assault and assault on a police officer.

The victim was walking in the area when a grey or black Volkswagen without a hood stopped near him. The occupants demanded the victims backpack and threatened him. Initially the victim ignored the demand, however after more threats he complied. The suspect vehicle left westbound on 2100 South.
