Compiled by Watch Commanders in the field, the Watch Log is a summary of events that stand out to them in a given 24-hour period. Call times listed are approximate and typically reflect the first call received by SLC911 (Dispatch) for a given case. 111 E. 300 S.
Officers responded to a call of a male who assaulted a female. When officers arrived at the scene the male subject threw a stick at officers and squared off to fight. After continued failed attempts to get the subject to comply, officers deployed a taser which had the desired effect. Eric Chmielewski, 32, was transported to jail for two counts of assault, assault on a Police Officer, and resisting arrest.
157 E. 900 S.
The victim was leaving his place of business when a male subject approached him and produced a weapon and threatened to injure the victim. The male subject grabbed the victim’s bags and a fight ensued. A witness nearby called the Police Department. The subject left the scene but was located on 200 E. 800 S. by a patrol officer. Other officers arrived in the area to assist. The subject refused to comply with commands to put the weapon down. The subject also began to throw beer bottles at the officers and the ground yelling at the officers to shoot him. An Officer deployed his taser which had the desired effect and officers were able to take the subject into custody. Kyle Hatfield, 21, was booked into jail for aggravated robbery, aggravated assault on a Police Officer.
800 N. Catherine St.
Officers responded to a call of shots fired. Officers located a house and vehicle that had been struck by bullets. Multiple shell casings were located in the street. There were no reports of injuries.
760 N. 900 W.
A witness contacted the police and stated he saw a female being attacked by a male acquaintance. While they are fighting a male Hispanic wearing dark colored hoodie stabbed the male attacker in the back then fled the scene. The stabbing victim was transported to an area hospital by a friend in stable condition.
297 S. Main St.
A report came in to dispatch of a fight in progress. During the fight a gun was fired, and a male was struck in the head. The male was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The suspects had fled the scene, at this time it is unknown what the fight was about.
