Officers responded to reports of a shooting. The victim got into an argument with a person who lived nearby. The suspect shot the victim but it only grazed him. The victim did not need to be transported to the hospital. The suspect fled the area on foot.
Assault on Police Officers
1609 S. Main St.
Officers stopped a male for illegally crossing the roadway. The suspect gave officers a false name. When the officers attempted to place him in handcuffs, the suspect assaulted two officers by biting one and elbowing the other in the face. The suspect was identified as Gary Ames, 53. Ames was booked into jail for related charges.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle
1818 W. 700 N.
Officers observed a vehicle that was listed as stolen. A felony stop was completed and three people were detained. The driver stated she recovered the vehicle on behalf of the victim from the person who stole it. This was confirmed and all parties were released.
