Awards and Recognition: My work has been recognized by the department and other organizations. I have lectured on investigative matters throughout the country.
Why I wanted to be a Police Officer: I have an uncle who is a retired police officer. While growing up, he would tell me about all the many experiences he had. He would tell me about the importance of service and that, as a Law Enforcement Officer, you provide service to others in the most difficult of circumstances. I was also told that working in Law Enforcement allowed for you to work with some of the most honorable and heroic men and women you can imagine, and that every day is a different challenge yet no two days are the same. Now, after almost 19 years of working in Law Enforcement, I can honestly tell you that I have found all of this to be true. But, I can also honestly tell you that while I love my dear old uncle, he clearly left some things out.
Role Model: I have many role models, but one of my role models is a young man by the name of AJ Walker. AJ was a victim of Trolley Square who witnessed his father being shot and killed, and then AJ was shot and critically injured as well. I have never witnessed such a desire and determination to fight and heal himself physically and mentally and to not allow the tragic events of that night to control his successes and meet his potential like his father had raised him to do. And while AJ and I met under very tragic circumstances, I am thankful to call him my friend and I have learned so much from him. He is my role model.
Favorite Quote: From my father: "Do not fail in your home. Do not fail your family."
