E-911

Calls for service in the city are professionally answered by Utah P.O.S.T. Dispatch Certified and E.M.D. Certified dispatchers. When a call is made to 911, the dispatcher has instantaneous information of where the call is being made.

Although the location is made available to the dispatcher, it is imperative that callers give the dispatcher their current location.New technology allows for the dispatcher to have approximate location information for calls made to 911 from cellular telephones. In some cases, the location of the caller is identified by the closest cell site the call is made from.

If the call requires a fire or EMS response, the call is quickly assessed and transferred to the Salt Lake City Fire Dispatcher.Interpreters are available via three-way conference call, as well as TDD/TTY communication (device for the hearing impaired).
