Bomb Squad
The Salt Lake City Police Department Bomb Squad is composed of five F.B.I. certified bomb technicians from Salt Lake City Police, supported by two bomb technicians from the Salt Lake International Airport Police Department and one bomb technician from the University of Utah Police Department. The Bomb Squad is accredited by the F.B.I. and is a member of the Utah Statewide Bomb Response Task Force. Members of the Squad range in experience from one to eleven years with training in render safe procedures, explosive destruction, blast mitigation, and post blast investigation.
The bomb squad has full bomb and explosive recovery response capabilities, utilizing all the latest equipment and technology. Members of the Squad were recently recognized by the Utah Statewide Response Task Force for performing duties beyond what is normally expected of bomb technicians during an operation in assistance of Layton City Police Department.
