Intern with the Salt Lake City Police Department!
The Salt Lake City Police Department is starting a new internship program. The goal is to provide a hands-on educational experience for students interested in a career in law enforcement. Gain valuable insight into career possibilities while pursuing your academic goals.
Currently, SLCPD has three internship openings:
Crime Analyst
Assist SLCPD in processing statistics and data on crime and crime trends. The data you process will help the department better understand the crime picture and deploy its resources appropriately.
Public Relations
Public relations is a law enforcement tool just like any other tool on an officer’s belt. Learn how to handle media inquiries about daily incidents, as well as craft proactive media releases on the department’s public safety efforts, department awards and other newsworthy items. Multimedia
The SLCPD is working to improve its multimedia offerings. Build your résumé while putting your photography, videography, podcasting and other skills to work for the police department.
Hours:
During the academic semester, the SLCPD will accommodate interns’ schedules within reason. However, interns will be required to work a minimum of 3 days a week, four hours a day.
Academic requirements:
Interns will be responsible for outlining and meeting the academic requirements of their respective schools during the internship. Documentation needs and deadlines must be clearly outlined by the intern on day one.
Pay:
No internship stipend currently is offered by SLCPD.
