Chief Burbank to Address Opening Night
of New Citizen Academy
SALT LAKE CITY—Police Chief Chris Burbank will kick-off the Police Department’s latest Citizen Academy tonight when he addresses the 25 “cadets” who have been accepted into the program.
“It is our hope that people taking this course will come away with a greater appreciation for the scope and complexity of an officer’s responsibilities, and in return we get the chance to talk with them about the roles we all play in public safety,” said Chief Burbank.
Over the course of eight classes, law enforcement professionals teach cadets the basics of patrol work, defensive tactics, firearms, and use of force, among other subjects.
