Salt Lake City Police and Fire Bowl for Kids’ Sake Saturday
SALT LAKE CITY—The Salt City Police and Fire Departments will field a total of seven teams in this year’s Bowl for Kids’ Sake, an annual fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah.
A friendly rivalry between police and fire raises the stakes—loser makes the winner breakfast.
"Bragging rights are on the line, but the real purpose is supporting the invaluable mentoring programs of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah. That’s why Police and Fire take it to the lanes during Bowl for Kids’ Sake,‖ said Police Chief Chris Burbank, who will participate in this year’s event.
According to the group’s research, children involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters are:
- 52% less likely to skip school
- 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
- More likely to get along with their families and peers
"This is a chance to have some fun and help kids reach their full potential. We hope the community embraces this fun event, too,‖ said Kurt Cook, Fire Chief.
