Warrant Issued in 1994 Cold Case
SALT LAKE CITY—The Salt City Police Department has secured an arrest warrant for Bernardo Carrillo (03/04/67) in the 1994 homicide of Lee Glass Thornton.
Homicide Detectives, working in cooperation with the Utah State Crime Laboratory, Sorenson Forensics and the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office, developed and matched a DNA profile to evidence obtained from the scene.
On July 25, 1994, a neighbor was concerned about the 50-year-old victim, who he had seen in more than a week. The neighbor contacted the apartment manager and then made entry into the victim’s residence, 456 North 800 West, where they found her deceased. The Medical Examiner later indicated that Thornton died of consequences of multiple stab wounds.
Homicide Detectives believe Carrillo is no longer in Utah but may be in Mexico, where he has family.
