Tips for Identifying Drug Use

The following are not always indicators in and of themselves. When a pattern of indicators arise and actions are not consistent with normal behavior, it is possible that drugs are involved.
- Extreme mood swings
- Withdrawal from regular activities
- Neglecting hygiene and other responsibilities
- Irregular sleep patterns
- Change in weight
- Often angry, paranoid, confused, or depressed
- Euphoria, mania and hyperactivity episodes
Tips for identifying Illegal Drug Activity:
The following are not always indicators in and of themselves. When a pattern of indicators arise and the activity is not consistent with normal behavior there is an increased likelihood of illegal activity.
- Unusual amounts of visitors
- Residence keeps odd hours
- Surveillance system attached to residence
- Moving suspicious materials
- Darkened or blacked out windows
- Activity that is not consistent with normal residence patterns
- Hyper-vigilance of the occupants
- Vehicle to pedestrian transactions
- Hand to hand exchanges
What to do if you suspect drug activity:
- Be observant but never place yourself in danger to obtain information
- Call your local law enforcement agency
- Have specific information if possible, i.e. exact address, license plate numbers, names, and if there are children involved
