Tips for Identifying Drug Use

The following are not always indicators in and of themselves. When a pattern of indicators arise and actions are not consistent with normal behavior, it is possible that drugs are involved.

  • Extreme mood swings
  • Withdrawal from regular activities
  • Neglecting hygiene and other responsibilities
  • Irregular sleep patterns
  • Change in weight
  • Often angry, paranoid, confused, or depressed
  • Euphoria, mania and hyperactivity episodes

Tips for identifying Illegal Drug Activity:

The following are not always indicators in and of themselves. When a pattern of indicators arise and the activity is not consistent with normal behavior there is an increased likelihood of illegal activity.

  • Unusual amounts of visitors
  • Residence keeps odd hours
  • Surveillance system attached to residence
  • Moving suspicious materials
  • Darkened or blacked out windows
  • Activity that is not consistent with normal residence patterns
  • Hyper-vigilance of the occupants
  • Vehicle to pedestrian transactions
  • Hand to hand exchanges

What to do if you suspect drug activity:

  • Be observant but never place yourself in danger to obtain information
  • Call your local law enforcement agency
  • Have specific information if possible, i.e. exact address, license plate numbers, names, and if there are children involved
