5th Annual Drug Endangered Children Conference

Practice and Policy: A Collaborative Approach


SALT LAKE CITY - The 5th Annual Drug Endangered Children Conference sponsored by Salt Lake City Police Department, COPS Meth Initiative, Drug Endangered Children Medical Advisory Team, and Utah Alliance for Drug Endangered Children will take place Aug. 5-6 at Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Keynote speaker is Vincent J. Felitti, MD, co-principal investigator of the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study. Workshops provided are designed to educate professionals and the public regarding law enforcement, prosecution, child protection, substance abuse, drug trends, research, treatment, and public health at the community and state level.

WHO:

Speakers will include local and national experts on issues related to drug endangered children, emerging drug trends, prescription drug abuse, Indian Child Welfare, environmental health, homelessness, drug identification, prevention, and investigation and prosecution. United States Attorney for the District of Utah Brett Tolman will discuss emerging drug trends and collateral effects. Also speaking will be kinship caregivers and families in recovery - they will focus on the impact of substance abuse on their lives and the lives of their loved ones.
