The homeowner of the above address heard a noise in the dining room and went to investigate. He confronted a male, later identified as Justin Ballantine (12/19/88). Ballantine was stuffing property into a back pack when he was confronted. Ballantine ran out of the front door and down Military Drive. Officers located Ballantine in the area quickly. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into jail for several charges, including burglary.

The 20-year-old victim exited the Smith’s store when he became involved in a dispute with the male suspect in the parking lot. During the altercation the suspect retrieved a sword and chased the victim across the street where he cut him with the sword. The victim sustained a substantial laceration to his leg and was transported to a local hospital. The suspect fled the area.

Officers stopped a vehicle driven by Surinder Kaur (11-22-72) for a traffic violation. Officers located over a substantial amount of Methamphetamine and Heroin, drug packaging and scales, and over $1600 cash. Kaur was booked into jail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

An off duty Unified Police officer was working security for Deseret Industries. A male, later identified as Robert Young (3/12/81), was confronted on the property and a physical struggle ensued. The officer’s firearm discharged during the altercation. Young fled on foot and was apprehended by responding SLCPD officers. Young was booked into jail for trespassing, theft, resisting, fleeing, and other misdemeanor charges.
